Gone in 60 Seconds

Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Whether you’re laying on a rocky shale slope to get the shot, grinding out another thousand feet of elevation; working long tedious hours behind the scenes to pursue your dreams; or showing up for people in their time of need; the best things in life are found outside of our comfort zone. Get comfortable being uncomfortable. We weren’t designed for a life of ease; lean in, release that breath you’ve been holding and take the shot.

There’s an article over on the Vortex website entitled, “Gone in 60 Seconds” detailing what I’ve learned thus far about preparing for a rifle hunt. I owe a great debt to the men, from my Dad to Rick Hutton who have generously offered their time, wisdom and mentorship over the years in my quest for proficiency. They’re stalwart reminders that I have a long way to go.

But I think that’s our job as writers, to take what we’ve been given, tease it into the tangible, and with open palms pass it along, hoping that it multiples in the giving.
